Join Our Volunteer Rescue Dog Transport Network

At Second Start Rescue, we’re on a mission to connect as many dogs as possible with their forever homes—and we need your help to make it happen. Transport volunteers are the backbone of rescue efforts, bridging the gap between shelters and loving families.

We’re building a nationwide volunteer transport network and would love for you to join us in this lifesaving journey.

Why It Matters

Every year, thousands of dogs face euthanasia due to overcrowded shelters and limited resources. Many of these dogs already have loving families waiting for them, but the only thing standing in the way is transportation.

Without a reliable network of transport volunteers, it’s difficult—and often expensive—for rescues to move dogs to safety or to their forever homes. By stepping up as a driver, you’re helping to bridge that gap, ensuring these dogs don’t lose their chance at a better life.

Transport isn’t just about moving dogs—it’s about giving them a second start. For many, this ride is the final leg of a long journey from neglect, abuse, or homelessness to love and stability.

Where We Need You

Our current priority is the Texas-to-East Coast route, where the need is especially critical. However, we’re looking for drivers across the entire country to help us build a comprehensive transport network. Whether you’re along our main route or in a less-traveled area, your support is invaluable as we expand and connect communities nationwide.

How You Can Help

Whether you can drive 10 miles or 1,000, every effort makes a difference.

By volunteering, you can:

• Assist with short, medium, or long-distance transports.

• Help coordinate multi-leg trips for cross-country journeys.

• Provide overnight care for dogs on long hauls.

• Make a direct impact by saving lives, one mile at a time.

Join the Team

We’re building our database of transport volunteers now, and we want you on board. Whether you’re based in Texas, along the East Coast, or anywhere in between, your involvement will help us create a lifesaving network of compassion and care.

Ready to make a difference? Sign up today and join a community of passionate, dedicated rescuers working together to save lives.
